Got Questions About Board Books?
WE'VE GOT ANSWERS
Explore Our FAQs
1. What is the minimum number of board books that can be printed?
Our minimum order quantity is 300 board books. This is because we produce the highest quality board books using an offset process. Offset printing involves a special setup, so printing fewer than 300 copies just isn’t cost-effective—for you or for us. However, the benefit of printing 300+ copies of your board book is that you get THE best price. And as you print more books, your price per book decreases.
2. Will I get a bound proof of my board book?
Yes! You will receive a bound hard copy proof within 2 weeks of approving your official quote and sending us print-ready files (complex orders may take more time).
We prepare a bound proof on a digital proofer BEFORE printing your final product on our offset press. The bound proof allows you to complete a thorough review BEFORE we bulk print. It is also great to have for pre-launch marketing.
3. What is a typical turnaround time?
The timeline to receive your board book order depends on several factors. Typically most board book orders take 8-12 weeks from approval of your bound proof. For more details on our printing process and timelines, click HERE.
4. Do you provide templates?
Yes! Once you confirm the size of your board book and specifications, contact us for our templates – it can save you (and your book formatter) time later on.
5. What type of ink do you use for your printing?
We use soy-based ink as opposed to traditional petroleum-based ink. Soy-based ink is environmentally friendly, provides bright vivid colors and is a renewable, sustainable resource.
6. What are my cardstock options?
Unlike traditional paper books, board books are printed on thick, durable cardboard stock. The cover is usually the same thickness as the interior pages, making it both sturdy and easy to design.
We offer coated board in matte or gloss finishes, available in a range of weights and thicknesses.

7. What is your delivery process and timelines?
Once a shipment has left our production facility, MCRL’s Operations Director, Jamie Sholl, can advise as to when you should expect delivery.
Shipping turnaround time is specified on your quote… usually about 8-12 weeks after approval of proofs (sea transit) OR 5-6 weeks (by air).
8. How do I get a sample?
The best way to request a sample is by completing our CONTACT US form or booking a quick call with us—this way you can share your specs, and we’ll check what samples best match your needs. We do not charge for samples, but you will need to cover the courier fee.
9. What is included in my quote?
Just like our parent company, MCRL Overseas Group, boardbookprinting.com quotes are all-inclusive—what you’re quoted is what you pay, with no surprise tariffs, duties, or hidden fees. Our quotes are valid for 20 days, and if shipping rates or tariffs change during that time, we cover the difference—not you.
Plus, our experienced team handles all the details, from customs clearance to final delivery. To request an “all-in instant or custom quote”, click HERE.
10. Is there a discount if I print multiple titles at the same time?
Yes - great question! Printing multiple titles together is more cost-effective, as you benefit from quantity discounts. You’ll need to request a custom quote so we can give you the best rates. Click the “Custom Quote” and complete the form.
11. What type of file do we send for a quote?
You don’t need to send us a file to get a quote. Simply complete our Instant Quote or our CUSTOM QUOTE form. Once you receive and approve the official quote, then we can work with you on submitting your print-ready files.
12. Can I book an appointment with a printing expert?
Yes! Absolutely. You can book a call through our Contact Us page
